Betty Keys Nance, at the age of 75, transitioned home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Long Beach, Mississippi. She was born on July 28, 1948, to the late Amos Keys Sr. and Earlene Keys of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was married to the late Rev. Jimmy Lee Nance Sr. She confessed Christ at an early age and is currently a member of Rescue Mission Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi, under the pastorage of Rev. Charles Johnson. She served as a Sunday School Teacher at Rescue Mission Baptist Church.
Betty K. Nance received her High School Diploma at Rowan High School. Prior to her retirement she served as a Unit Secretary at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Betty K. Nance leaves to cherish her memories four daughters and one son, Veronica Nance of Gulfport, Mississippi, Lavenia Arceneaux, married to Tico Arceneaux of Long Beach, Mississippi, Zabrina Nance of Long Beach, Mississippi, Jimmy Nance Jr., married to Erica Nance of D’Iberville, Mississippi, and Rozina Nance of Biloxi, Mississippi; five brothers, the late Willie Keys, Rickey Keys of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Billy Keys of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Amos Keys Jr., of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Kenny Keys of Los Angeles, California and three sisters, the late Gloria Keys of Los Angeles, California, the late Catherine Keys of Los Angeles, California, and Linda Keys of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; nineteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

On February 29, 2024, Stephanie gained her wings. Stephanie was born at St Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, La in 1965. She was baptized at Our Lady of the Lake Church on February 7, 1965. Stephanie was the daughter of Mildred Simon Jones, Calvin Williams SR. and Henry Lawrence Jones. She went to school in Mandeville until her senior year of high school, she graduated from Joseph S. Clark High School in 1983 with her brother Calvin Williams Jr. She attended UNO in New Orleans and studied Finance. She worked at First NBC Bank until her Multiple Sclerosis would not allow her to work anymore. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1992. Stephanie always had a “glass half full attitude” despite her situation. She always knew what was going on in the world and kept up on the newest things. She loved to talk about recipes, kitchen gadgets and loved to read. She was very particular about everything.
She is preceded in death by her parents. One brother Calvin Williams Jr.
Stephanie is survived by her son Ross N. Jones. Three brothers: Kimball L. Jones of Philippines, Travis(Karen) Williams of New Orleans, Cy(Torrie) Williams of Prairieville, La. One sister, Stacie Williams of New Orleans. One nephew Kimball S. Jones. Two Godchildren Robert J. Brown and Elizabeth Spicer.
She also leaves to cherish her memory: her aunt Earline S. Barron, her loving caregiver Erika Lasjon, her special friend Carl Jenkins, cousins and good friends.

Kay E. Schmitz, 77, of Biloxi, passed away on January 29th 2024 peacefully at her home. She was born on January 20th 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Wally and Phyllis Innes.
She loved traveling and enjoyed visiting the countryside and the Smoky Mountains.
In her younger years she loved to go for rides on Illinois Country roads on the back of her husband Chuck's motorcycle.
She loved flowers and gardening and could often be found enjoying the results of her hard work in her back yard with her beloved dog Scrapples. She especially loved to watch the sunset.
Kay is survived by her daughter Kelly Bagwell and her grandson Elijah Bagwell. She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck Schmitz, and her parents Phyllis & Wally.

Sandra Blackard Levin died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 31, 2023. Sandy was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 17, 1943. Raised primarily in Topeka, Kansas, she eventually moved to Little Rock in 1969 where she enjoyed working for Twin City Bank. She then met Dr. Frederick Levin, the love of her life, and they wed in 1971 as she stepped into her most cherished role as mother and wife.
Besides devoting herself to raising her family and supporting her husband's passion for pediatrics, Sandy spent her years in Central Arkansas serving as a member of the Junior League of North Little Rock and in the sisterhood at Temple B'nai Israel in Little Rock. She was fiercely loyal to both family and friends that were family alike, and she also had a soft spot for the underdog. Her generosity knew no bounds for those she saw in need, and she always wanted to lend a helping hand.
Sandy was bold, charismatic, independent, feisty, and always authentic. Her favorite place was near the water, and she always looked forward to summers on their houseboat at Lake Ouachita or time at her beloved beach condo at Palm Island. She was an avid fan of Alabama football and Rod Stewart, she loved NCAA basketball, and was always ready to try her luck at a good slot machine or two. She loved to travel and explore new places, making countless memories with loved ones through her adventures abroad. Sandy was always easy to spot in her bright colors and sparkly accessories, and she never met a stranger.
Sandy is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Dr. Frederick Levin; her children Kirsta Nigro (Keith), Stefanie Levin, Dr. John Levin (Corbin), Mark Levin (Krysten), and Alexis Levin (Seth); her grandchildren Jeffery Bolts, Jennifer School (Nathan), Hallie Pingel, John Austin Levin, Alice Levin, Philip Levin, and Samuel Levin; her great-grandchild Eleanore School.; her brother Mark Blackard (Peggy) and sister Portia Ortale (Pat); and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends. She is preceded in death by her mother and stepfather Alice and William Lichtenstern; stepmother and father John and Joyce Blackard; and one son David Levin.

Samuel Clarence Lewis Jr., also known as Boo, passed away on October 31, 2023, in Gulfport, MS, at the age of 55. He was born on April 23, 1968, in Gulfport, MS, to Mary Lewis and the late Samuel C. Lewis Sr. Boo was a selfless, loving, kind-hearted, fun, and supportive individual. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Boo had a magnetic personality and never met a stranger. To know him was to love him.
Boo is survived by his mother, Mary Lewis, and his children: Joshua Ball, Tevin Ball, Whitney Ball, and Brittany Ball. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Ke'Mani, and grandsons Jasani, Dasani, and Z'Yaire. He is also survived by his sisters, Chennette Lewis and Francois Lewis, and his brother, Damion Lewis, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Boo was preceded in death by his father, Samuel C. Lewis Sr., his grandfather, Rev. Moses Pace, his grandmother, Versie Pace, and his nephew, Jeneation Lewis.
Boo worked at Landshapers in Gulfport, MS, for over 15 years, where he dedicated his time and skills. He took great pride in his work and was a valued member of the team.
In his free time, Boo enjoyed fishing, detailing cars, and spending quality time with his family. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to create lasting memories.
Boo's departure has left a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His selflessness, love, and kindness will be deeply missed. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Mr. Cecil Burrell Reid, Jr. was born March 5, 1943 in Biloxi, Mississippi to parents the late Mr. Cecil B. Reid Sr. and Mrs. Bernice Bilbo (Reid) Polk.
Cecil accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and later joined the Main Street Missionary Baptist Church. Cecil married Anna Jean (Mitchell) Reid on October 30. 1964. To this marriage, two sons, Cecil Burrell Reid 111 and Curtis ED Reid were born in Chicago, Illinois,
Cecil attended early elementary school in Vancleave, Mississippi and later attended Magnolia High School. He graduated from Magnolia High School in Moss Point, Mississippi and later attended Mary Holmes Jr. College in West Point, Mississippi.
After moving to Chicago, Illinois, Cecil was employed at Republic Steel. He returned to Biloxi, Mississippi in 1973 and was employed at Ingalls Shipbuilding where he retired in 2000.
Cecil was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Cecil Burrell Reid Sr., mother, Mrs. Bernice (Reid) Polk, step-father, Mr. Charles Polk, and brothers, Ollie Reid and Donald Reid.
Cecil was a faithful member of the Main Street Baptist Church and served as a member of the Brotherhood and wherever he was needed before he became ill.
Cecil organized the Bass Unlimited Fishing Club and served as president for many years until he became unable to serve.
Cecil leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mrs. Anna Reid, two sons, Cecil Burrell 111 (Belinda) Reid and Curtis ED ( Lashonda) Reid both of Grand Prairie, Texas; one daughter, Debbie (Albert) Grafton of Detroit, Michigan; one sister, Mrs. Elberta Wright of Desoto, Texas; grandchildren, Stephen Mitchell Reid, Joshua Reid, Jordan Reid all of Grand Prairie, Texas; Crystal Wilson of Detroit, Michigan; Craig Peters, Jacqueline (Brian) Percosky and Dadrien Prestwood of Texas; great -grandchildren, Aaliyah Wilson of Grand Prairie, Texas; Ashjia and Craig Peters of Michigan; and Jacob and Shanessa of Texas.

Charlie Franklin, age 25, was born September 1, 1997 to Ms. Keysean Franklin and Mr. Charles Smith. He was educated in the Orleans Parish School System and completed his studies at West Mesquite High School in Mesquite, Texas. Charlie also furthered his education at Cisco Junior College where he pursued Business Administration. Charlie was an outstanding athlete, he played football for Mesquite High School. During his earlier years he was a double threat in both football and baseball. He was apart of The New Orleans Monarchs where he played in The Home Run Derby and attended the World Series in 2007. He also played for the infamous Harrell Rams where he received several accolades for his performances. He bought much laughter to others, and happiness to his loving family.
On March 31, 2023 Charlie was summoned to be with our Lord. Charlie will be missed and never forgotten by his parents Ms. Keysean L. Franklin and Mr. Charles Smith, Stepmother Yoshika, brothers Michael Jefferson III and Roshawn Cunningham, sisters Chariane Williams, Taylor Smith and Skylar Smith.
Grandparents Shirley Franklin, James Washington and Every Jean Smith. Aunts Leann and Latoya Franklin, Pam Williams, Leslie Smith, and Sharone McPherson. Uncle Saul Smith. God Parents Andrea Johnson and Sean Pierre.
He will also be missed by his dog Bella Franklin, who he adorned. He was preceded in death by his uncles Katrone "Roni" Franklin and Charlie Smith, Grandmother, Lubertha Franklin, Grandfather LC Smith, Great uncles Arthur Ageous, Leroy Smith, Clayton Franklin, Herman Franklin, Hudson Franklin and Roland Franklin.

Michael Allen Necaise (Mike), a Hancock County native, passed away on February 22, 2023, in D'Iberville, MS.
Mike, commonly known as "Red," a nickname coined by his bright red hair, was the third child to be born to the late Shirley Faye (Kennedy) and the late Robert Joseph Necaise. Of seven children, he was the first to be called home.
Mike dedicated his life to being "one of the good ones" and he lived his life unapologetically, with strong values and high integrity. He worked hard to instill that same morality in his one and only daughter, Meagan Necaise, or May as he called her. For the last several years of his life, Mike could be found, on any given day, in a small-town mechanic shop locally known as Goody's, either working on cars or reminiscing (and maybe a tad bit of griping) with "Goody" and his pal, "Big Al," about the "good, ol' days" when they too could work on cars. He may have been a little rough around the edges, but at his core, Mike Necaise was a good man and this loss is a tragedy.

Oscar L. James, Jr. of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2023, in Dorchester, MA.
Oscar was born July 15, 1981 as the second child and only son of Oscar Sr. and Adonna James. He leaves behind his two siblings, Melva and Aleia James; great uncle, Eddie Fox; aunts, Marsha Lynette Friels and Gloria Jean Jones; and cousins, Kimberly Texada, Lytle Evans, Elisabeth Evans, and De’Kendrea Stamps. He is also cherished and survived by his ‘2nd mother’, Ruby Butler, and her children, Patrick and Jennifer Butler.
Oscar grew up in the Presidential Hills neighborhood of Jackson, Mississippi. He and his best friend, Jason Johnson, spent countless days playing in the loop where Presidential Drive cornered Franklin D Roosevelt to stay in Adonna’s sharp eyesight.
Oscar first explored his love of music while learning the snare drum in the Northwest Jackson Middle School band. While attending Callaway Sr. High School, he sang baritone in the school choir and played the Bass drum in the “Charger Band.” Oscar was a member of Callaway High School’s Class of 1999.
Oscar attended college at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), earning his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. The friendships he gained while at USM proved to be life-long, where he is affectionately referred to as “Big O”.
After college, he moved to Biloxi, MS, where he began his career working in the public school system as a Behavioral Facilitator. Oscar had a genuine heart for children, exemplified through his work with special needs students and those with autism.
In 2016 Oscar moved to Boston, MA, for a fresh start after experiencing the politics of the educational system and the pain of losing his parents, friends, and some of his students. Over time he healed from the depression and grief he faced and began to explore his path to happiness and fulfillment. While in Boston, he worked as a courier for the Salvation Army. His career began to truly flourish as he made a name for himself in the Boston Medical Cannabis Industry. At the time of his passing Oscar was employed at ZYP Run, where he had plans to grow with the company.
Beyond all else, and most importantly, Oscar was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. His smile, laughter, and sense of humor were infectious. There was nothing pretentious about him. His insights and ability to distill the complex to the comprehensible helped others feel safe, seen, and heard.
To Oscar, his family and friendships were everything, and he was fiercely loyal. It is strange and unreal to know that Oscar’s journey here is now finished. As his family, we trust that God’s hand, which guided Oscar throughout his life, was with him through his transition. We pray that God will heal the sadness in our hearts and help us rejoice in our memories.
Two memorials will be held to celebrate Oscar’s life: . Oscar will be cremated in honor of his wishes to be “sprankled” around the world.

Howard (Rocky) Flateland, 67, of Gulfport, MS passed away peacefully Thursday, February 23, 2023 at his home.
Howard (Rocky) Dean Flateland was born May 9, 1955, to Howard & Sylvia (Voeltz) Flateland in Fosston, MN. He was the oldest of 8 kids. He was baptized & confirmed at Sand Valley Lutheran Church, Trail. Rocky attended Trail School through the 6th grade. He attended Gonvick-Trail School, graduating with the class of 1974.
Following High School Rocky enlisted in the United States Navy. He served for 5 years working with the Seabee’s. He continued with the Reserves for 3 years following. While stationed in Gulfport, MS, Rocky met Dorothy (Jean) Arbuckle. They were married on August 23, 1978 at Sand Valley Lutheran Church, Trail.
The couple lived in Trail, Holt & Thief River Falls. While in Minnesota Rocky attended Thief River Falls AVTI for Auto Mechanics. He worked for Les’s Sanitation, Arctic Cat, Uncle Bens, Rausch Dairy and owned a mechanic shop.
In the mid 80’s they moved back to Biloxi, MS. Rocky worked various jobs and owned a lawn care business. They welcomed Kelvin into their family after returning to Biloxi.
Rocky is survived by his son Kelvin of Mississippi, mother Sylvia Flateland of Trail, MN. Bro. Lawrence Magee was born to the Late Reuben P. Magee and Jessie Lee Walker in Gulfport, Mississippi. Lawrence attended North Gulfport School and 33rd High School and left to go to Job Corp. He worked several jobs but worked twenty-seven years at Bayou Concrete and retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Reuben P. Magee and Jessie Lee Walker; 2 sisters: Patricia Magee and Willie Earl Patton; and a grandson Sean Pierre Draughn.
He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

Paul Dobrilovic, 73 of Biloxi, Mississippi passed away on October 28, 2022, following a long illness. Paul was born in Ravenna, Ohio, graduated from Ravenna High School, and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. After retiring from the military, and his last duty station being Kessler Air Force Base, he remained in Biloxi. Paul loved landscaping, working in his many flower gardens, and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his daughter, Christina Painter (Lee), his stepson Richard Best (Jana), grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as, his sisters, Anne Moneypenny, Mary Dorflinger (Roger), and Nancy Holt. He was preceded in death by his wife JoAn, his parents Paul and Betty Dobrilovic, and brothers-in-law Rillis Moneypenny and Chris Holt.

On November 12, 2022 at approximately 9:41 pm, the Lord released Christopher (Chris) Sebastian Fridia from his suffering and called him to his new home. Christopher rededicated his life to the Lord on October 5, 2022.
Christopher was born on February 28, 1956 in San Francisco, California.
Christopher attended El Cerrito High School and graduated in 1974. After graduating high school Christopher attended Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas where he studied Chemistry and became a proud member of the Phi Bata Sigma Fraternity. It took long hours of studies, volunteering and his witty personality to become a part of the Chevron family in the state of California.
A few years later, Christopher was transferred to New Orleans, Louisiana where he met and married Christine Williams. As he started aging Christopher decided that after 35 years, it was time to retire and the place to be was Mississippi. Christopher and Christine built their home in Mississippi and kept their home in Louisiana to be close to family and friends.
Christopher loved to talk. He never met a stranger and always liked being center of attention. A single word could become a whole topic for hours. Christopher was also an entertainer because loved to perform his Michael Jackson moves whenever he could. Christopher was a big fan of the Pittsburg’s Steelers.
Christopher is preceded in death by his mother; Florence Rosetta Fridia, father; Earnest Fridia, brother; David Fridia, mother-in-law; Joyce Williams, father-in-law; Paul Williams Sr. and brother-in-law; Paul Williams Jr.

Sedonia Baker was born on December 19, 1948 in Killona, LA to the late Irma Lee and Livingston Baker, Jr. She was the second of three children. She departed this earthly life on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the age of 73. Sedonia was a lifelong resident of Edgard until her illness, where she then resided with her daughter in Laplace.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Walter Baker, a daughter Angela Baker, a son-in-law Jordae Grows Sr., and her companion Emile Willams.
Sedonia is survived by three daughters: Yolanda (Darrin Scott), Sonya (Aubrey Borne III), and Rita Baker; and one son, Demond Baker Sr.; seventeen grandchildren: Joyell, Breyanne (Joshua), Asia (Aaron), Asianee (Marcus), Dashia (Aaron), Ireail, Alfreana, Pernell Jr., AnJanel, ReSean, Sh’Rita, Jordae Jr., Jordan, Jadore, Demond Jr., Demonte, and Angel. Fourteen great grandchildren; and one sister Rita Isaac. She is also survived by one godchild Tyrone Woods, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She will be greatly missed by many.

Emma Lee Dunn was born on December 14, 1937, in Gloster, Mississippi, to the late Vernon & Hattie Chapman Matthews. She was the second oldest of twelve children. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the age of 84, in Mobile, AL. She moved to New Orleans, where she resided for many years. Emma was married to the late John Henry Dunn. To this union, three children were born.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Mary Beatrice Brown and her brother Stanley Matthews.
Emma is survived by her three daughters: Angela and Daphne Dunn and Valarie D. (Clarence Luden); four grandchildren: Lakeisha Christmas, Lance, Alicia, and Britney Dunn; four great-grandchildren: Kyla Christmas, Ta’Liyah Hardy, Dhmani and Deffery Hollis, Jr.; three sisters, two brothers-in-law: Ruthie Burgess of Chicago, IL, Minester (Rev. David) Veals and Wilma (Joseph) Williams, both of Gloster, MS. Six brothers, two sisters-in-law: Edwin Matthews and Alphonse Matthews of Gloster, MS, Samuel Matthews, Melvin (Mattie) Matthews and James (Gail) Matthews, all of Chicago, IL, and Vernon Matthews of Gonzales, LA. She is also survived by three godchildren: Keryatti Lacy, Jowanda Stewart, and Tanya Dickerson, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and church family.
She will be greatly missed by many. Jannie Mae Page Chester was born September 27, 1941, in Covington County, Mississippi, to the late Daniel Page and Annie Mae Page. She was one of five children, three brothers and one sister. During her early years, her family moved to the Summerland Community. She then joined the Pine Valley Missionary Baptist Church where she served in different areas of the church and dedicated her time to her church community. She relocated to Biloxi, Mississippi, where she married her late husband John Chester, where they both reared their eight children.
Jannie Mae graduated in 1960 from Smith County Training School. She worked in several careers, but her most satisfying and beloved job was a Police Front Desk Clerk at the Biloxi Police Department. She retired in 2006.
Jannie Mae always gave loving, caring and kind words to her family, friends and co-workers and spoke often of how she served as a “rock,” to those who needed her.
Jannie Mae visited her home church, Pine Valley Missionary Baptist Church regularly, however, while living on the Gulf Coast she also attended First Missionary Baptist Church of Biloxi.
Jannie Mae departed this life in her Biloxi, Mississippi, home on Monday, October 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Page; mother, Annie Mae Page; three brothers, Earlie B. Page, Willie J. Page, O. B. Page, sister, Noble Ruth Page and one daughter, Shirley Jean Page.
She leaves to cherish her memory are: four sons, Charles Chester (Patricia) of Mobile, Alabama, Claude Chester (Joyce) of Homosassa, Florida, Billy Page (Revita) of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Carl Chester (Maggie) of Hopewell, Virginia; three daughters, Glendora Gross (Jerome) of Detroit, Michigan, Tina Johnson of Aurora, Colorado and Jackie Barnes (Terry) of Taylorsville, Mississippi; one God child Suhajda Pringle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives and close friends.

Bonnie was born on March 26, 1964 in Minot, North Dakota. Being a military kid, Bonnie moved around a lot before eventually settling down in Biloxi, MS. Bonnie graduated from Biloxi High School and, later in life, graduated from MGCCC with high honors and Phi Beta Kappa. In 2014, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic Neuroendocrine Carcinoma Cancer. Unable to receive chemo or radiation, Bonnie’s teams at MD Anderson and the Ocean Springs Cancer Center found a treatment to make her comfortable for 8 years. With new ailments starting, on August 15, 2022, Bonnie’s fight came to an end. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey Baker and Ted Warman, and her sister, Karen Warman. She was survived by her children, Mari Davis (Louis), Julia Cantrell (Britt), Lisa Kline (Ashley), and Ryan Walker; her siblings Cheryl Case (John), Christopher Warman, and Dyana Warman-Cramer (Dan Sr); and 10 beautiful granddaughters that she talked about all the time.
A memorial service will be determined at a later date and in lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to cancer research.

Leslie Reddix was born November 14, 1982 to Ruby Nell Martin and Lester Jones Sr., later raised by her “Aunt Ann” June Hayes and the late Grandfather Willie D. Martin. On August 14, 2022, Leslie Martin, of Moss Point, Mississippi at the age of 39. She graduated from
Moss Point High School in 2001. Later she received an Associates Degree in Childhood Development. Leslie later moved to Biloxi, Mississippi. In her spare time, she loved to cook. Also she always had a passion to be around kids and never met a stranger.

Renard (Ray) Thomas Brooks was born June 18, 1957, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Robert and Mattie Brooks. He was a native of Mobile, Alabama, but a resident of Axis, Alabama. Upon graduation from Satsuma High School in 1975, Ray enlisted in the United States Army. After an Honorable Discharge, he moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and later returned to Axis, Alabama. After returning home, Ray worked at Huntington Ingalls in Pascagoula, Mississippi as an electrician for twenty-three years. He retired in May 2022. He married the former Janice Stewart Brown on May 28, 2002.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Mattie Brooks; grandmothers, Lillie Mae Davis and Ida Thrash; a brother, Donnis Brooks.

Charles Edward Burney was born on October 30, 1944, in Vancleave, MS to Benjamin and Earnestine Burney. Charles graduated from E. H. Keys High School in Ocean Springs, MS. After completing high school, he enlisted in the Navy, and fought in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he was employed with Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS for 50 years. He also
taught welding classes at MGCCC (Jackson County campus) for a brief period. Charles served on the Deacon board at New Light M. B. Church and later became a Trustee and Cemetery Overseer. Outside of his love for God, he loved hunting, horse riding, and spending time with family and friends.
Charles passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Ocean Springs Hospital. A time to be born: She was born April 2, 1938, in Butler, Alabama, to the late Rand Cunningham and the late Lula Lot. She was preceded in death by her brother, Nathan Brown, sister, Myra Jean Walker, and sons, Jesse Lewis and Kenny Joseph Walker.
A time to live: Sister Annette was an active member of the New Light Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to fail her. She was a past member of the Women at Work and the Senior Women Ministry. She was employed at Keesler AFB for many years, where she retired. She loved her family, pastor, and and church family.

On June 1, 2022, the sweet spirit of our dear sister, Ms. Shirley Jean Page, went to join the Savior in that home not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God. Ms. Shirley Jean Page, daughter of the late Mr. John Chester and Mrs. Jannie Mae Chester, was born July 8, 1958, in Jones County. She departed this life on June 1, 2022, in the comfort of her home, Biloxi, Mississippi, at 6:20 p.m.
She joined the Pine Valley Baptist Church, Taylorsville, Mississippi, at a very early age. She later moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, but always visited regularly what she called her home church, Pine Valley.
She loved cooking and food, the color red, laughing, music, stuffed animals, her family, friends, and her faith. Knowing Shirley Jean is to have laughed with or shared a kind word, whether a close friend or stranger. Being humbly social was a gift she had, and those around her were drawn to her infectious, kind personality. Shirley Jean was a wonderful older sister to her siblings. "As a daughter, she has spent a generous amount of love and care for her mother. She became a loving confidant and strong shoulder for her mother during times spent." Selflessness and generosity were two traits that highlighted her personality. She touched the lives of many people.
Shirley Jean had an unassuming and disarming smile that could put anyone at ease, from newborns to the elderly. Her sense of humor was second to none, and she was as compassionate as she was funny. Even when ill, Shirley Jean was never angry or sad. Instead, she could find the silver lining to keep pushing forward in any situation. Shirley Jean was so special. She represented the good that we all need every day in our lives. We are proud to have been able to call Shirley Jean our daughter, sister, cousin, auntie, TeTe, and our friend.

Patricia Ann Williams was born February 4, 1947 to Tonsey and Willie M. Reuben. She went home to be with our Savior on April 14, 2022. She was preceded in death by both parents, her ex husband Travis Williams, four brothers David Reuben, Sidney Reuben, Mack Reuben, and Randall Reuben, Four sisters, Brenda Stapleton, Emma Allen, Esther Williams and Margaret Dear and her best friend Priscilla Johnson.
She grew up in Puckett, MS but later moved to Chicago where she spent a good part of her adult life. She would later move back to her home state in the city of Biloxi to be closer to her family. She was employed with Gayfers which later became Dillard's where she later retired.
She enjoyed going to church, spending time with family and friends, and shopping. She loved to talk on the phone and would do so every night with her family.

A woman of many titles, Mrs. Eartha Willis was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. But she was also an educator, teacher, woman of God, caretaker, and friend. Her smile was infectious, her spirit was invigorating, but her love was everlasting. This is the story of a woman who blessed us with 94 years of love, laughter, and light.
Mrs. Willis’ story begins on August 29, 1927. She was born an only child to the lateRev. Foster and Sis Erie McIntyre Brown of Hattiesburg, MS. She was introduced toChrist at a young age as a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a graduate ofEureka High School in Hattiesburg, MS.
Mrs. Willis had many passions, but teaching was her first love. Following high school, she went on to Tennessee State University where she obtained a degree inPolitical Science - she never missed an opportunity to brag on an HBCU. Her love for education did not stop there. Mrs. Willis then studied at Jackson State University and obtained an endorsement in Elementary Education.
The trajectory of her story would soon change course, as she would eventually meet her husband, John. Their love blossomed in Stone County where Mrs. Willis was called to lead the dance team at Locker High. Her passion for educating led her to teach 37 years in the Stone County School District as a Social Studies instructor for4th, 5th, and 6th grade students.
While she was stern about her students focusing on their studies, Mrs. Willis’ role as an educator extended far beyond the four walls of a classroom. She was an educator on life. A noble guide to prosperity. A light in a sea of unwavering darkness. She had a way of effortlessly inspiring, empowering, and encouraging those around her to do better and be better. She led, so we followed - the best we could.
Her grandchildren are arguably her proudest accomplishment. Whether she was schooling them on a lesson, saving them from a spanking, or cooking them a meal,Mrs. Willis was their voice of reason. They called her, Muh Muh. It was a title she wore with honor.
She was a woman the community looked to for advice and wisdom. Although she was too humble to boast about her accomplishments, she was never too proud to give her neighbor. An angel sent from heaven, her pulse radiated from a servant heart.
Mrs. Willis is preceded in death by her husband, John Willis Jr. and son, Vincent.She is survived by 3 sons: Carl (Doris) Lithonia, GA , Herman Wiggins, MS, and Larry (Maria) Daphne, AL; 2 daughters: Yette (Darryl) Hattiesburg,MS and Jondena (Stevon) Gulfport,MS; a plethora of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a great- great grandchild along with her God-sent sister LillieMae Grady.

Ronald Ray Van Steenis was born the 13th of November, 1954, and passed the 9th of February, 2022. Ronald lived a life of travel and adventure. During his career, he logged thousands of hours as a commercial pilot – flying both people and cargo. As a father, he instilled a thirst for adventure and a love of the outdoors to his children.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Van Steenis and Katherine Van Steenis (Prater). Ronald was survived by his older sister, Deborah Demaro (Van Steenis) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and his brother, Richard Van Steenis of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was also survived by two children, Matthew Van Steenis of Traverse City, Michigan, and Skylar Van Steenis, of Gaylord, Michigan. A native of Michigan, Ronald relocated to the Gulf Coast in the mid 2010’s.

says, and dust returns to the ground it came from and the Spirit returns to God who gave it.
Though no one was prepared or imagined that this day would come, God who knows all made no mistake when He called our princess home. He allowed us to share the blessing in her life. He allowed us the privilege to raise her and see her change into a beautiful flower that exudes
warmth, joy, and love enough for everyone to feel.
Since we were blessed in abundance and given the honor of having such sweet precious time with our beautiful baby girl, we must be thankful to our creator and find a way to still keep the joy of her memory alive in our hearts.
None of it is easy, and it may feel very hard to bear, as we all mourn her in our own way. However, if you truly remember Harmony; you would know that she would not want us to be sad, and instead, she would like us to be happy for that was who she was.
Family and friends, as you can imagine, we did not see this day coming so soon, and we were not prepared for the time in which our precious baby would have to be put to rest. Nevertheless, never forget the memory of her love and the joy she brought to our hearts. For every hug, laughter, smile, and spoken word will now be a precious gem to treasure forever.

Pamela Kennedy-Parish was the second born of three children, to the late Francis Perryman and Jimmie De Perryman Bender, in Gulfport, Mississippi, on February 1, 1956. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support. At a young age, she joined Progressive Baptist Church. After graduating from Gulfport High School, she enrolled at Xavier University. She graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1979 with a degree in Business Administration. In New Orleans, she met and married Harry Kennedy, to whom three children were born. She later relocated back to Gulfport, Mississippi, where she met and married her Kater Parish Jr, blending their families. She had a successful career as an accountant, receiving tenure from Gulfport, where she worked for eighteen years. She ultimately retired from the City of Biloxi in 2019.
Pamela was a respected community member and received many awards and accolades. She was a Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a past member of the Bennett-Johnson Golden Circle, and the Xavier University Gulf Coast Alumni Association. In addition, Pamela was a loving and strong person who could solve any problem. Her loved ones will dearly miss her. Pamela is preceded in death by one child, Harrison Kennedy, her uncle Lee Daniel Spearmon and her parents.
Pamela leaves to cherish her loving husband, Kater; her daughters Rachal Kennedy and Whitney Hampton (Kalan Hampton); her grandchildren Kohen Hampton and Kobi Hampton; her sisters Kathleen Perryman and Toni Adams (Lamar Adams), her step-children Deidra Parish-Doyle, Arlanderia Jones Bank, and Bertran Parish; one niece, one great-niece, two sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.

Tyrone Phillip Tillman was the son of Rev. Jetson and Thelma Tillman He was born on October 14, 1951. He departed this life on December 12, 2021 at Canon Hospice in Gulfport, MS.
Tyrone attended Valena C. Jones High School. He served in the United States Navy. Tyrone lived in Los Angeles, California for many years. He moved from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, where he became a renowned Barber and HairStylist. Tyrone opened a barber shop on the corner of Old Spanish Trail and Washington Street in "The Bay." He was advertised and known as the "Cut Doctor."
Tyrone attended church faithfully until his health began to fail. He knew the scriptures from both the Bible and the Koran. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He loved his family, always sharing words of wisdom for them to live by. He was also a praying man.
Tyrone leaves behind two sisters, Dr. Joanne Tillman of Atlanta, GA and Minister Karen Craft of Bay St. Louis, MS; three daughters, Roshanda Tillman and Tyronza Tillman residing in Los Angeles, California, and Rachel Stone, Long Beach, California; a Godchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
We will miss his radiant smile, his corny sense of humor, and his infectious laugh. Rest in peace "Toky." No more pain...no more suffering. We love you.

Mother Myrtle Ann Davis Abbott answered Jesus's call to rest for eternity on November 26, 2021. She was born November 22, 1934, to the union of the late Valonise and Robert Davis Sr. in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was educated in the New Orleans Public School System. Mother Abbott was baptized at the Mount Rock Missionary Baptist Church. She was a lifelong member and served as the Mother’s Board leader for thirty-six years.
Myrtle was the devoted wife of the late Ferdinand Abbott, first marriage with the late Alfred L. Dyer; beloved mother of Londa and Linda Dyer and stepmother of Carl, Alvin, and Debra Abbott. Myrtle was a laborer for Jesuit High School, Loyola University of New Orleans, DePaul Hospital, St Elizbeth Children’s Hospital, Milen Boys Home, and the Local 689. She was well known throughout the Greater New Orleans Holly Grove area.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents, Valonise and Robert Davis, Sr.; her husband Ferdinand Abbott; four brothers, August, Robert, McKinnley, and Frank Davis; three sisters, Thelma Solomon, Janie Davis-Luckett, Alma Davis, and one granddaughter Myneka Dyer.

Maurice Tillman was a member for over twenty five years until his death.He served as a deacon until his illness. James loved going to church, talking with women, hitch-hiking, and eating up everything. He always smiled and made others laugh.

Gladys was born on August 16, 1940, to J.R. Fairley and Letha Bell Fairley. She passed away on November 14, 2021. For over 40 years, Gladys was a devoted Christian of her God Jehovah. She was full of hospitality and generosity to all. As a diligent student of Jehovah she applied those principles to her everyday life and spent numerous hours teaching the Bible to others. She always strived to be an example to others around her. Gladys loved to spend her free time doing what she was widely known for; baking Red Velvet cakes, German Chocolate cakes, and making Sweet potatoes pies.
She met and married Isaac A. Fairley, whom she was married for thirty-eight years until his untimely death on June 2, 1996. Because of Gladys's fine Christian spirit, she will be truly missed by all that knew her as she sleeps and awaits her day of resurrection.

Emmanuel was born on December 19, 1994 at Meadow Crest Hospital in Gretna, Louisiana.
Emmanuel attended elementary school in Gulfport, MS., Acadiana High School in Lafayette, La. for his junior year, then moved to Astell, GA and graduated from South Cobb High School. To further his education, he enrolled in Chattahoochee Tech School in Marietta, GA, and later decided to enlist in the US Marine Corp.
Emmanuel enjoyed the outdoors, skateboarding, meditating, yoga, art, drawing, music, eating healthy foods and last, but not least, he loved the Lord. Emmanuel was free spirited and fun-loving, and he possessed a playful sense of humor, so he would always have reasons to laugh. He never met a stranger. His charm and wits certainly were his strengths.
Emmanuel is preceded in death by his aunt, Angelique Carre Smith (raised as his sister), and grandmother; Mary Grace Dural. Emmanuel’s cherished memory shall live in the hearts of his mother, Leslie “Michele” Smith, his father, Dalton R. Dural (Kimberly), and his grandparents, Betty P. Williams (Clyde), Marvin J. Smith, and Harold Dural; his siblings Matthew Paul Smith, King Josiah Smith (cousin raised as his brother), Terence Young, Darby, Nicholas, Joie Dural, and Courtney Simmons Dural; his uncles and aunts, Marvin Christian “Chris” Smith (Katelyn), Elijah Green, Shella Dural-Coleman(Quency), Phillip (Trena), Thetis, Glen, Nelda, and Andrea Dural; and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends.

Willie Louis White Sr., was called home suddenly on Friday, August 20, 2021, at the age of seventy. He was the second eldest son born to Roosevelt White Sr. and Lillian (Shelton) White in West Point, Mississippi on January 23, 1951. The following year, the family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where he was raised. Willie had one sister and four brothers: Deloris White who passed away just shortly after birth; David Collins Hogan (1993); Roosevelt White Jr (2017); Mitchell White (1997); and Raymond White (Shirley), his last surviving sibling. Willie was survived by his life partner Venora Bryant with whom he conceived his eldest son Michael Jerome Bryant (Erica) of Gulfport, MS, and his ex-wife Pok Sun White Garrison whom he conceived Salynda Crystal Owens (Michael) of Houston, TX; Tamika La’Neese White of Midwest City, OK; Willie Louis White Jr. (Benita) of Kansas City, MO; Chae Joseph White Sr. (Chyna) of Memphis, TN; and Jay Cee White (Margo) of Kansas City, MO. He was also blessed to have twenty-three grandchildren: Malik A. White; A’lexious S. Ayers; Adrian L. Armstrong; Aaron L. Armstrong (2015); Andrew L. Shaver; Victoria S. Owens; Anthony L. Davis Jr.; Koralee Shaver; Andre L. Ross; Za’Tavia S. White; Marita L. Davis, Maiya R. Henson, Jaylyn M. White, Mykiah J. Bryant, Mary J. Bryant, Willie L. White III, Jayden M. White, Ajia M. White, Rylie D. M. White, Michelle J. Bryant, Chae J. White Jr, Kylan B. White, and Za’Bella M. Jones. Willie also had two great-grandchildren: D’Marion Ayers and Journee Ayers. Willie still has one surviving uncle Lamar Shelton, and one aunt Bessie White. He has several nieces, nephews, cousins and much extended family.
Willie graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City, MO and attended the University of Kansas (KU). He served in the United States Armed Forces until he discharged in 1973 as a veteran of the United States Air Force. The majority of his civilian career, he was involved in the telecommunication industry where he served as an electrician. His pride and joy has always been his family. Everyone and anyone who knew him, knows he is a connector of people. He made it his business to reach out to everyone in the family and was intentional about talking to his children daily. Willie needed at least three or four baptist preacher closes to end a phone conversation. If you know, then you know!
Throughout his life, music (especially old school) was in his veins and played the saxophone in a band for many years. He had a great sense of humor and loved to fellowship with people while playing dominos, chess and video games (Zumba was his favorite). He was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. Willie really enjoyed barbequing and knew how to clear a plate too. In his final days, he enjoyed working on various projects at his home. More than anything, Willie, affectionately known as “Chilly Willy,” “Willie Louis,” “Big Will,” and “Pops” was a joy to be around. He never met a stranger, nor was he a stranger to anyone.
In his later years, he always found a way to remain objective and would provide sound advice to anyone who had an ear to hear. He was a major encourager, influencer, and solution provider. He worked hard and was full of wisdom. He instilled many strengths into his children, to include endurance, resilience, and perseverance (a spirit of never giving up, to always push forward). The biggest legacy he left for his family was to always remember to make your family a priority and to keep them close. He impacted us all different-ly but treated us all with great love and tender care. He always said he wanted to return home to Mississippi and he did just that and enjoyed the rest of his days exactly where he wanted to be. There will never be another Willie White Sr. in the world. He will be truly missed.

The youngest of seven kids from the late Robert “ Bobby” James & Imogene James both of Tylertown, Ms, David took after his father and became a top tier concrete finisher along the Gulf Coast. At a young age David took his skills to work at companies such as The Dupont plant in DeLisle, Ms and other companies such as Chevron, and cities like Austin, Tx, and all over the southern regions of Louisiana and Alabama. David truly enjoyed the skills he owned, as he utilized them to make adjustments and improvements on his own homes. David was also known to be a great cook, and very avid fisherman.
On August,5,1978 David was united by holy matrimony to the former Yvonne Williams, daughter of the late Maxwell C. Williams & Louise Williams. For 42 years David and Yvonne journeyed through this land together, side by side, as members of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, located 10587 Automall Parkway, D’Iberville, Ms.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Robert James Sr & Imogene James, his brothers,Richard James, Samuel “SJ “James, his sisters Geneva Wallace, Dorothy Williams,& Sophie Dickey.
David's life will forever be cherished in the lives of : his wife, Yvonne James (Biloxi, Ms) , his children whom he loved,starting with his oldest, Anthony Greene (Leonna) of Macon, Ga; his only girl , Sharonda Kenan (Ahamad Sr.) and his youngest son Derek James all of Biloxi,Ms.

A beloved Father, Grandfather, Physician, Musician and Great Friend left this world unexpectedly on July 17, 2021. Born in Inkster, Michigan on September 3, 1951 to Toussaint L. and Ruth (Hutchins) Crowell, Weymoth “affectionately known as T.W.” grew up in Birmingham, Alabama where he attended Ramsey High School. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College, where he was a member of the “winning” football team. He is also a graduate of the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Medicine, and specialized in anatomic pathology and family medicine. At the time of his death, he was a physician for Coastal Family Health and Digestive Health Centers. Weymoth was well-loved by his patients, and never met a stranger with his kindness and harmonious demeanor. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Peggy F. Crowell, PhD, whom he was married to for over 30 years. During this union, Weymoth “Alex” Crowell was born, and he is their pride and joy.

Laura B. Johnson, 73, of Biloxi, MS was born to the late William and Luereaner Butler, Sr. on July 27, 1947, in Columbus, MS. She passed away suddenly on Friday, July 2, 2021.
She was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church (TMBC) of D’Iberville, MS and an active participant of the Senior Women Anointed and Appointed by God (SWAAG) Ministry, where she enjoyed fellowshipping with the sisters of SWAAG at the TMBC Activity Center.
After retiring from a 29-year career as a Senior Accounting Clerk for General Motors Acceptance Corporation, she served a 20-year tenure as a Board Member of the Biloxi Housing Authority and Biloxi Community Development Corporation Board of Commissioners, where she also presided as Chair for the last five years. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her quickly understood her greatest pride and joy was spending time with her daughters, and especially with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband Elijah Marshall Johnson of almost 47 years and daughters Tracey Friley (Jerry) of Jacksonville, FL, and Leslie Neal (Reginald, Sr. “Reggie”) of Starkville, MS. She had five grandchildren (listed from oldest to youngest): Sydney Friley, Morgan Neal, Jeremy Friley, Reginald “RJ” Neal, Jr., and Madison Neal; three siblings: Willie Mae Smith and Reanir Mae Stokes (James) both of Columbus, MS, and William Butler, Jr. (Jane) of Birmingham, AL; six sisters-in-law: Jane Butler (William, Jr.) of Birmingham, AL, Anna Johnson, Bernice McMillon, Crystal Johnson, and Leona Johnson (Wayne) all of Mansfield, TX, and Shelia Johnson (Robert) of Augusta, GA; one sister-in-love: Ruby Butler; four brothers-in-law: James Stokes (Reanir) of Columbus, MS, George Johnson, Jr. of Jackson, MS, Robert Johnson (Shelia) of August, GA, Wayne Johnson (Leona) of Mansfield, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Kim Nanette Haywood-Arnold was born on May 3, 1965, at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi, to the parents of Retired CMSGT Willie E. and Roma Haywood. Kim was a member of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of D’Iberville, Mississippi. On Friday, June 11, 2021, Kim passed away at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Florida.
She was a military brat who traveled throughout many countries and states, including Tinker AFB, Oklahoma (1966-1969), Air Force Academy, Colorado (1969-1973), Keesler AFB, Mississippi (1973-1976), Randolph AFB, Texas (1976-1979), Sembach AFB, Germany (1979-1982) and Tinker AFB, Oklahoma (1982-1984).
Kim was a 1983 graduate of Midwest City High School in Oklahoma City. She also attended Rose State Junior College in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She was employed with the Department of Defense as a Store Checker for more than twenty-six years at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, and later Gulfport Naval Base. She greeted her customers with a warm, friendly smile and never met a stranger. She was loved by many near and far. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society Women’s Club of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Kim loved her “bling.”
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Myrtis Burton of Franklinton, Louisiana, and her fraternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Willie Haywood, Jr. of Lawton, Oklahoma, three aunts, and seven uncles.
Kim leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Kristofer and Kourtney of Biloxi, Mississippi; her parents, Retired CMSGT Willie E. and Roma Haywood of Gulfport, Mississippi, one brother Reginald and one sister Tammy Haywood both of Houston, Texas, an aunt/sister Cynthia Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana. Three grandchildren Kameron, Lillias, and Keirsten Williams; Two special grandchildren that she cared for as her own Chad and Corbin; two special twin cousins, Alayzia and Ayzia Smith; a special daughter, Cassandra Arevalo of St. Martin, Mississippi; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Mr. John Anthony “Ant” Little, a lifelong resident of Biloxi, passed away in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the age of 54. He was born on July 9, 1966, one of four children born to Flora B. Williams of McAdams Mississippi.
Mr. Little was also affectionately known to his family as “Ant” and loved people, especially children. He has a passion for cooking, and you could always find him around a grill or stove. He was employed in the construction and shipbuilding industries for many years until he transitioned.

Pericles said, “What you leave behind is not what is engraved on the stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” On December 16, 1955, two tiny footprints entered the sands of life. Canasta Robinson was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, to the late Albert Robinson Sr. and Dessie R. (Bland) Robinson. His parents may not have known it at the time, but the child that they were raising would establish a blueprint for a life well lived and deserving of earthly and heavenly accolades.
Canasta graduated from Biloxi High School in 1973. During his school years, he was an exemplary athlete who played basketball, football, and baseball. Although his ability to physically participate in sports waned over the years, his love for sports continued to blossom. He was an ardent fan of the Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints football teams.
Following commencement, Canasta served in the United States Navy from 1974-1976, during the Vietnam War Era. God’s favor was upon him during his time of service because he was not called to active combat. Canasta continued to take advantage of his experiences to further his education. In 1976, he started at the College of Alameda in Oakland, California, and graduated in 1980.
Canasta was gainfully employed throughout his life. After returning to Mississippi, he enjoyed working in the Harrison County School District. Later, his veteran status helped him obtain employment at the Naval Service Battalion Center in Gulfport, MS.
While working at AT&T, Canasta met Jackie, who became the love of his life. They were married in a beautiful, intimate ceremony on December 17, 2005. Together, they settled into a blissful life full of unwavering companionship and love for each other. Jackie often expressed her adoration to and for Canasta and sincerely appreciated him for giving her unadulterated happiness. He knew what it is like to be married to a fine, wonderful woman, so he treasured her beyond bearing with the sure knowledge that she loved him in the same manner. In his early years, Canasta accepted Christ and was a member of the Greater Grace Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Ricky August. Together, Canasta and Jackie faithfully attended Tabernacle M.B. Church. They also enjoyed traveling together and often found themselves at beach destinations so that Canasta could relax and take pleasure in his blessed life.
Although Canasta was a hard worker, he was a pillar of support for his family, especially his mother and children. He took pride in being a great father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He was very honored by his children and often spoke of their accomplishments with pride in his voice. He was a man who virtuously wore patience and calmness as cloaks that enveloped all who had the pleasure of encountering him. Canasta was a gentle soul who epitomized compassion and tenacity. He was a modern-day superhero who saved his family from floodwaters during Hurricane Katrina while always looking for ways to help, inspire, and encourage others.
On June 8, 2021, at the age of 65, Canasta departed this life as he lived this life: with peace and dignity. Canasta’s spirit was released from his worn-out shell of a body to his new home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was constantly surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Canasta is reunited with his earthly father, Albert Robinson Sr., and was predeceased by his three brothers: BeArtis Robinson, Albert Robinson Jr., and Michael Anthony.
Although Canasta’s life has concluded, the love from the ones left behind has not ended. He leaves to cherish his memories; a devoted wife, Jacqueline Denise Robinson; his dear mother Dessie R. Oselen of Biloxi, MS; two sons, Ricky Darden and Kelvin Darden, both of Gulfport, MS; two daughters Daria Keys-Taylor (Nick) of Mt. Healthy, OH and Deedra Keys of Charleston, WV: Two siblings Alberta Floyd of Biloxi, MS. and Yaqui Oselen of Atlanta, GA; one grandchild Keyontae J. Darden; one niece, and many extended family and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.
Although Canasta has physically departed this realm, his memory and spirit will continue to survive and flourish. It is impossible for him to no longer exist because he resides in the souls of the people who knew him. His kind words and valuable lessons are forever implanted into our minds. His loving nature is entrenched in our hearts, his genuine smile is embedded in our memories, and his legacy will continually endure and grow throughout his generations. Knowing and loving each one of you was the success story of Canasta’s life, and you will meet again on the other shore.

Since Markita was a little girl, she has always been a lover of arts and enjoyed singing, dancing, and listening to music. In addition, Markita was a self-made Left-handed make-up artist (MUA), with a strong focus on leaving many feeling beautifully confident within themselves. Markita was funny, outgoing, determined, and did exactly what her heart desired. Her beauty, charm, and graceful spirit would light up your world; let's not be deceived; she was fiercely loyal to her family and close friends. Furthermore, she was a huge positive influence on the community.
When you think of Markita, celebrate her life, reminisce, and indulge in all those beautiful, silly moments you had with her.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother Essie Mae Rodgers and father Billy Charles Rodgers. John Robinson Jr. was the second child of Sister Clarese and the late John Robinson Sr. He was born on December 1. 1962, and he attended Biloxi High School. He worked for six years at the Casino Magic as a chef. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Dr. A. A. Dickey. For the past twenty-seven years, Dr. Kenneth M. Davis served as John’s pastor. He is preceded in death by his father John Robinson Sr, his grandfathers, Archie Stewart and Tom Robinson; his two grandmothers, Eula Mae Stewart and Annie Mae Robinson. Older sister, Annette Ash, and a granddaughter, Delilah Thorton. Also, numerous important Aunts and Uncles.

Scharlottie Ann Smallman, affectionately known as Lottie or Feather, was born December 1, 1961, in Biloxi, MS. to Jimmie R. Smallman and George Woods. Lottie attended Ruby Green Kindergarten and Biloxi Public Schools.
Following her beloved grandmother Ruth Smallman's death, Lottie moved to Philadelphia, PA, with her aunt and uncle at the tender age of six. Scharlottie attended school in Philadelphia at John Greenleaf Whittier Elementary and E. Washington Rhodes Middle School. She attended University City High School and continued her education at Mansfield College in Upstate, Pennsylvania.
Lottie married Edward J. Droughn III in 1985. Lottie and Eddie had two children; Jessica D. Jackson and Edward Droughn IV. Her employment opportunities would include receptionist, bank teller, and AIG as a claims adjuster.
She enjoyed music, theatre, and reading as hobbies. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Devereux United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was an intricate part of the music ministry.
Sharlottie was preceded in death by her father, George Woods; her maternal grandparents, Cecil Smallman and Ruth Stephens Smallman; great aunt, Ruby Stephens Spillers; and a nephew, Desmond Smallman.

Steven Joseph Moran was born in Gulfport on April 5, 1957 and was a life long resident. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph P. Moran and mother Dorothy Ivy Moran. He left this world too soon and will be missed by his brother, Glenn E. Moran, his sister-in-law Susie Moran as well as his nephews, nieces and friends.

Lifelong resident of Vancleave, MS. Attended E. H. Keys High School. Member of the A.O.H. Church of God until illness. Worked for the four prominent doctors in the Ocean Springs community. Her joy and peace was the love of family especially her mother, she was her caregiver until the day she passed.
Bertha Lillie was one of 12 born to Lillie Mae and Sidney Joseph Sr. of New Orleans, LA and was the proud mother of four children and 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Bertha Lillie is proceeded in death by her parents Lillie Mae and Sidney Sr., and 10 of her sisters and brothers. Marie Antonio Isaacs passed away on July 22, 2020 at Oschner Hospital in Kenner, LA at the age of 87. She was one of thirteen children; Edgar, Isiah, Albert, Alvin, Walter, John, James, Harry, Joseph, Oscar Jr., Evelyn, and Lillie. She was a native of Taft. LA. She later moved to New Orleans, LA until her death. She retired from the Royal Sonesta Hotel after 35 years.
Marie was the mother to Sam, Marguerite, and Patricia Isaacs. She leaves to cherish her memories to all those that knew her and loved her best. Her grandson Rodney Isaacs and seven grandchildren. A host of niecs, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mrs. Mary Buie was born May 20, 1943 in Union Church, MS to the late Lumar and Maetrice Coleman.
Mary was a member of Macedonia MB church under the leadership of Rev. O. D. Evans until his departure. Mary was then under the leadership of Rev. L. C. Williams. Mary was a faithful member until she moved to Jackson, MS. Mary accepted Christ as Lord and Savior of her life.
Mary was a God fearing woman that was always lending a helping hand to people in need. Mary soon became known as (Granny) by a lot of friends and family.
On July 3, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center, she gave her earthly body to God so her soul could rest with her Heavenly Father and her Savior Jesus Christ.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Henry Buie, her son Glen Buie, her step son Marshall Buie, her granddaughter Victoria Stapleton and her brothers: Willie Lee and David Coleman and Sister Gladys Gray.

Annie Dillon Tillman was the first born of the late Felo and Viola Washington Dillon on September 9, 1941 in Brookhaven, MS. Being the first born of seven children, Annie united with the Greenwood Church in September 1947 at the age of six years old. Accepting Christ April 1978, she continued to attend occasionally during college. While in college, she attended Pearl Street AME in Jackson, MS. After returning home, she continued with the choir, which she joined beginning in 1953. In addition to the choir, Annie was a member of the Junior Mission, Singles Ministry, Mother Board, Program Committee Chairperson, Sunday School Teacher and Assistant Financial Secretary. Annie’s secular activities included JSU Alumni, Anointed Praise Choir, Alexander High School Alumni, a Hospice Volunteer, and many educational organizations.
Annie’s education began at Pilgrim Rest Elementary School, Alexander High School at eighth grade and then graduated from Jackson State in 1962 and attended other Colleges and Universities, such as Alcorn A & M, University of Southern, William Carey College and Mississippi College.
Annie worked in the following School Systems, Lawrence County Schools, Lincoln County Schools, McComb Public Schools, Amite County Schools, Hazlehurst Public Schools, and finally Brookhaven Schools until retirement in 2004. Her teaching career spanned 32 years and her motto in teaching was “be firm, be fair and be friendly”, and we believe she was all three. She loved helping to prepare children for the future and it hurt her deeply when they refused to see that they needed an education.
March 11, 1966 Annie gave birth to her first child, Jeffery Monte Dillon and later in July 1970, Annie married George Tillman, and to this union two children were born, Kelvin Maurice Tillman and Erica Denene Tillman. Preceding Annie in death, in addition to her parents, was one sister, Betty Jean Dillon, one sister-in-law, Mary Thrasher Dillon, one step-daughter, Stacy Tillman; one adopted son, Andrew Johnson; one nephew, Julian Dillon, maternal grandparents, Ernest Washington, Sr. and Dezzie Clark Washington Smith, step-maternal grandfather, Walter Smith, paternal grandparents, Felix and Annie Huff Dillon, and numerous other relatives.
She leaves to remember her, her children, Jeffery (Rachel) Dillon of Lexington Park, MD, K. Maurice (Treniesa) Tillman of LaPlace, LA, Erica Patton of Brookhaven, MS, and Keith (Kenya) Tillman of Corona, CA; four sisters, JoAnn (Alex) Robinson, Charlestine (Nathaniel) Waterman, Maxine (Donnie) Dillon all of Brookhaven, MS and Patricia Dillon of Denver, CO; one brother, Levi Dillon of Brookhaven, MS; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one god-child, Darren White; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Annie loved her family and her church family and always wanted the best for them. She wanted you all to know that she loved every one you.

Jennifer Harges Westover was born in Gulfport, Ms, on February 15, 1972, to Mrs. Elnora Harges and the late Nathan Harges.
Jennifer was a 1990 graduate of D'Iberville High School and later attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She was employed at Casino Magic Biloxi as a Marketing Representative for many years. She was also formerly employed by The Sun Herald, Hancock Bank, Family Dollar Store and Hobby Lobby.
In 2001, she was married to the late Michael E. Westover. She was a loving mother, sister, daughter and friend and a member of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, where Dr. Kenneth M. Davis was her Pastor.
She was also preceded by a sister, Linda Marie Millsap.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Janine (Ray) McIntyre and Jastinn “J.J.” Westover; her mother, Elnora Harges; sisters, Diann, Katrice, Janine and Sharon; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

James Turner, Jr. was born July 28, 1960 to James Turner, Sr. and Marjorie Turner in Biloxi, MS. He was a 1978 graduate of D’Iberville High School. JR as he was affectionately called joined the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of the late Dr. A. A. Dickey. JR followed in the footsteps of his father and became a brick mason and cement finisher, in his younger years he enjoyed working alongside of his father. James joined the army and was honorably discharged after serving for 2 years. James has a smile that could light up any room, he was truly the life of the party. James loved his friends and family. In 1990 he met the love of his life Cassandra “Pinky” Austin, they were joined in matrimony on March 29, 1991. He was an excellent husband, father and provider for his family. He exemplified a true work ethic. James was made whole on Sunday, February 23, 2020 and told his family on Thursday February 20, 2020 that he was ready whenever God called him.
James is preceded in death by his father and mother, a sister Darlene Turner, a brother Larry Turner, his in-laws Jessie and Lois Austin.

Gracie was born June 2, 1923, in Leakesville, MS to Ada Hays Parker and Henry Parker. Her parents, siblings, and two sons, George White and Raymond Jr. Pace preceded her in death.
Saucier, MS is where Gracie made her home for the majority of her life. She was dearly loved by her family and all of the community. Her home has alway bern open to many and she fed whoever was hungry.

Susan LaVern Turner, the oldest daughter of the late Mr. Willie R. Sr. and Mrs. Mayolia Turner, was born June 2, 1948, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi (MS). She was the third oldest child of ten children. Early in her life, she professed faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church, by the late Reverend Elijah Jones in Hattiesburg, MS. She continued to grow in her faith and diligently sought to apply the principles she learned from the Holy Scriptures.
Susan was an accomplished mathematics educator with the ability to teach, motivate, and direct students while maintaining high interest and achievement. She was a graduate of Levi Johns Rowan Senior High School, Hattiesburg, MS (1966) and received a Bachelor’s Degree from William Carey College, Hattiesburg, MS (1969). Susan also achieved credits toward her Master’s Degree in mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MS.
She moved to Biloxi, MS in 1970, to pursue her teaching career in mathematics at D’Iberville High School. Susan held firm to a belief in “No Child Left Behind” and always tried to facilitate students’ learning in the area of mathematics. She faithfully served students for 36 years, retiring in 2006.
She accomplished the following accolades during her stellar career:

Rev. Alvin J. Cook age 56, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018. He was born on April 4, 1962 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Willie L. Cook and Willie M. Anderson Cook. Alvin graduated from Biloxi High School in 1979. He was a lifelong servant of God following his pastor, Rev. Walter Simmons. Alvin grew up to love singing with the Emmanuel Gospel Singers with his brothers, Keith and Christopher. He had one daughter.
Alvin enjoyed teaching about the love of God and mentoring youth to achieve. He enjoyed bowling as well as spending time with family and friends. He became a minister and after traveling with The Emmanuel Gospel Singers, he felt the call to build a church of his own. In 1991, Emmanuel Baptist Church of Faith was founded. He pastored there for twenty-eight years. Alvin taught his flock to give God their all and with the sure knowledge stated in Matthew 1:23 God with us.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Cook. He is survived by his father, Willie J. Cook; mother, Willie M. Anderson Cook; three brothers, Keith, Craig, and Dexter Cook all of Biloxi; one sister, Belinda Cook of Biloxi; one daughter, Shamika Toney, and a host of loved ones.

Rev. Willie Perkins, Jr. was born on April 19, 1955 in St. Louis, MO to the late Willie and Mary Perkins. Willie departed this life on December 10, 2018.
He graduated from Soldan High School in St. Louis, MO and upon graduation, he joined the United States Army. He later moved from St. Louis, MO to Jackson, MS. During his stay in Jackson, Willie accepted his call to the ministry where he was licensed and ordained at the Cornerstone M. B. Church, Rev. P. J. Williams, Pastor. He later joined Grace Fellowship Baptist Church under Pastor Jerry Collier.
Willie leaves to mourn his wife, Nona Dickey-Perkins and a host of relatives and friends.
